pink dress
zink poe

She did not want to go
Really she didn't

Bought a pretty pink dress
this is what they would remember

The carefully applied nail polish
Those remarking they had
Never seen her so beautiful
I am a princess

She had such a glow that night
She laughed
She ate the avocado dip
She flirted with the boys
and they liked me

And twirled as she danced
Reached up with her hands
As though embracing the sky

And the boys sighed

She never looked so good
So soft
So wanting

The music as sex
Pumping into her
She wishing

Anything to make
her feel right

Nothing did
And no one noticed
When she lifted her legs over the balcony
Brought her tiny hands together
Like a little girl in prayer

Leaned into the wind
And pretended she was flying

For ten minutes
the boys looked for her
