of monkeys and men
james lacroix jr.

i laid my tongue as a gift
at the doorstep to the temple of the mutes

+

i bled as i fought off the troglodytes
that litter my library of years;

a faded monkey to a fading man

a spraypainted evolution along the backalleys of
red blooded reality studios  + discordant static factories
these river rapids of waste + wails...

i'm tired of stewing in this crazy gravy,
so i will make my way using my notebook as a life raft...
down those banks of mounting monkeys
to the mountainous range of shit hills
because i've realized since silence,
the secrets of the dharma lie in compost
i've discovered my life's work
i'm going to turn this world over.

Between Music
(for Jessica Burke)
james lacroix jr.

moss- Any various small green, nonflowering
plants often forming a dense mat like growth

I

it's Sunday morning
i shake from one dream to another + awake
can't focus beyond layers
oF nIGTHS      oF lOVE        oF lIFE
in my mind piling wildly
laying a dense bed
a foundation
that neither tarotist nor taoist
can lay scrolls or prophet
we study the growth like it's our secret map

smiles from thieves lead us into the garden
i whisper, "I'll wax him, you bury her,
+  we'll meet up at Cat Power"
we go from pub to pub in preperation
drinking stout and crowns
you challenge me with yr lips
+
i'm the victor
there's an awkward dance
though we dance beautifully
outside of ourselves
+
where angels cry
the mOoN closes its eye
+
so the sun shall
watch us for awhile< /FONT>

as mayor of "Trouble Town"
i demand clarity
as mayor without clarity
i'm not so sure of that last statement
i watch you dance
+
i want the chaos to engulf me
the man i am has fallen way to a pulse
it beats to yr rythym
+
i want to float on it
to wherever it leads
for you plant seeds that turn into dreams
of waterfalls in Maui
let me float there
if i get lost,
i will look for you

so i say
moss is what it wants to be
+
what I want is the key
well, what it symbolizes anyway...
what you see in my eyes is genuine
for whether or not masked,
  they are forever yr frame
+
what you do to me...

euphoric visions of glitter organs
rise + float out from th e lava
beneath my skin
my hair stands on end
my body becomes tribal

yR lIABLE!

i'm yr Africa Man!
